A Call from a Proud Dad
Not long ago, I got a call from a father who was looking for the right detailing company in Waco. His son is a student at Baylor University and drives a 2021 black Mustang EcoBoost. The dad wanted to make sure his son’s car looked its absolute best and would be protected for years to come. After searching for car detailing shops in Waco, he came across my videos on social media. He told me that after watching a few of them, he knew I was the right person for the job.
First Look at the Mustang
When the Mustang rolled into my shop, it already had plenty of presence. The EcoBoost models may not have the same roar as a GT, but they carry that classic Mustang styling that always turns heads. The paint, however, showed the same issues I see with most daily-driven black cars: swirl marks, water spots, and light scratches. Black paint is beautiful when corrected, but it demands attention to detail. I knew this job was going to deliver a dramatic before-and-after.
Step One: Decontamination Wash
I started with a full decontamination wash. This process goes beyond a normal wash—it’s about stripping away every bit of dirt, road film, and old wax that hides in the paint. I used an iron remover to dissolve embedded contaminants, followed by a clay bar treatment to smooth out the surface. By the time I was finished, the paint felt clean and ready for the real transformation.
Step Two: Paint Correction
Next came the most rewarding part of the process: paint correction. I taped off trim and worked panel by panel with a multi-stage polishing system. The swirl marks and haze that dulled the finish were polished away, revealing a depth and clarity only a well-corrected black car can deliver. Under the shop lights, the paint looked like it had been revived—rich, glossy, and reflective.
Step Three: Four-Year Ceramic Coating
With the paint corrected, it was time to protect it. I applied a professional-grade ceramic coating rated to last four years. Ceramic coatings chemically bond to the paint, creating a durable shield against UV rays, water spots, and everyday contaminants. For the owner, this means easier maintenance, longer-lasting shine, and the peace of mind knowing his Mustang will keep its sleek look while parked around campus or driving through Waco. The finish after the coating was nothing short of stunning. The black paint had that “wet” look that ceramic coatings are known for, and the hydrophobic properties mean water will bead and roll off effortlessly.
Complimentary Interior Detail
As part of this package, I also performed a complimentary interior detail. I vacuumed the carpets, wiped down all interior panels, and dressed the trim for a clean, factory-fresh feel. It’s important to me that the inside of the car matches the quality of the exterior. When the owner got behind the wheel, it felt like a new car inside and out.
The Reveal
When his son arrived to pick up the Mustang, he was blown away by how different the car looked. He told me he couldn’t believe the depth and clarity of the finish. At the same time, I had been sending his dad photos and videos throughout the process, so he could see each step even though he wasn’t in Waco. By the end, both father and son were thrilled with the results—the son in person, and the dad from afar.
Why Ceramic Coating Matters
This Mustang is now protected for the next four years with a coating that not only makes it look incredible but also saves time and effort on maintenance. For college students, that’s huge—it means less time worrying about the condition of the car and more time enjoying it. Ceramic coating isn’t just about looks; it’s an investment in the longevity and value of the vehicle.
My Takeaway as a Detailer
For me, this job was about more than just correcting paint and applying a coating. It was about trust. A dad wanted the best for his son, searched for a company he could rely on, and chose All in the Details because of the passion and results he saw online. Delivering on that trust—while keeping him updated every step of the way—made this one of those jobs I’ll remember.
